Websites I've Created or Enhanced

As independent consultant...

http://www.educationnz.org.nz
Education New Zealand is a not-for-profit charitable trust that is governed by the New Zealand export education industry, and is committed to an ‘NZ Inc’ approach to the export of New Zealand’s education services offshore.
I set up the secure online student records and application management system allowing ENZ officials to upload, review and manage student applications and supporting documents. University admissions officers and the students themselves also have secure access to records based on level of authorization. Since this is a secure site, I will demonstrate this system upon request.
http://www.bookachat.com/
BookaChat is an online community of learners and tutors of the World’s languages. It allows people to cost effectively learn a language by using tools to: search for tutors that meets their needs, book a time to meet for conversational language practice at their own proficiency level, and participate in a lesson from anywhere at any time.
I set up the lesson repository system (tables, programs and web pages for tutors to submit and download lessons plans).
www.lotusbarn.com
Lotusbarn is a Norwegian company that sells lovingly handmade baby carriers so you can take your baby anywhere comfortably (barn means child in Norwegian).
I set up and customized this site using the Zen Cart shopping cart as a starting point. I also wrote the Netaxept credit card gateway program to connect to Norwegian banks. I manage, upgrade and customize the entire site on a continuing basis.
Create Your Own
Wedding/Baby Registry

http://www.masisoft.com/babyboybannen/
As a service to family and friends, I have created wedding and baby registries in which the owners can list items they wish to receive, upload photos, input item descriptions, link to store websites and maps, etc. The registry therefore does not have to be limited to a specific store and is totally customizable by the bride and groom or expectant parents! These registries have been very popular! Since this example is a secure site, I will demonstrate this system upon request.

As Programmer/Manager at UCSB Davidson Library ...

UCSB Map & Imagery Lab
Located in the Davidson Library, the Map and Imagery Laboratory advances the interdisciplinary use of spatial data and provides technologies for integrating diverse information formats. MIL's collections of maps, aerial photography, satellite imagery and other spatial data exceed 5 million information objects. The digital data collection is growing at about one terabyte per year and is composed predominantly of physical sciences datasets, satellite imagery, and digital mapping data of the United States and other Earth locations. Thousands of scanned aerial photographs are also part of this collection. Air Photo Flights listed by County includes direct access to flight indexes.
I set up the MIL Air Photo search and browse tools on this website and the cataloging system used to populate the data on this website. I also served as the manager of the UCSB Davidson Library programming team for 5 years. Since the cataloging system is a secure site, I will demonstrate this system upon request.
NGDA - National Geospatial Digital Archive
The University Libraries of UCSB and Stanford are leading the formation of the National Geospatial Digital Archive (NGDA), a collecting network for the archiving of geospatial images and data.
I set up the original prototype website for this project.
Alexandria Digital Library - operational
The Alexandria Digital Library (ADL) offers easy access to its collections of geographically referenced materials. The library, headquartered at the University of California at Santa Barbara, is hosted by the Davidson Library's Map & Imagery Lab (MIL).
I populated this library with metadata and served as the manager of the UCSB Davidson Library programming team for 5 years.

UCSB Libraries - SearchPath
Implemented and customized an open source tutorial system to teach students how to use a university library. Original Searchpath material © 2006 by the Board of Trustees of Western Michigan University.
